Some people have a laissez-faire attitude when it comes to being on time and while this might be acceptable when meeting up with friends and family, it is certainly not acceptable in the real world and especially so when it comes to being employed. There are a number of countries all around the world that find it totally unacceptable to be late for any kind of appointment and if you turn up late then this will not provide the best first impression possible and will affect not only your social life but your business life as well.
The same applies in the sporting world and if there is a volleyball game schedule then you better be sure to turn up on time or it might be the case that your coach will sideline you, or in the worst-case scenario, your team will be thrown out of the tournament. It is true that ethics and standards have changed over the years but one thing remains true and that is the fact that you always need to be on time in this very competitive world that we live in.
The following are just some of the reasons why being punctual is incredibly important.
- It shows that you give a dam – When you turn up to anything on time and especially so with sporting events, it shows that you really do care about what is happening and you not only value your time but your teammates as well. If you turn up late to any event, the other people will rightly or wrongly assume that you just don’t care and if that is not the impression that you want to give then always be on time.
- It indicates that you respect others – In today’s very competitive business environment, time is essentially money and so if you waste someone else’s then they are not going to be happy with you and you are not putting your best foot forward. It is acceptable to be only a few minutes late and anything beyond that makes people think that you don’t respect them and that you don’t respect the occasion.
- It shows if you are a professional – It doesn’t matter if it is in a game situation or in a business situation because turning up on time lets people that you are meeting know if you are a competent and professional person. People would rather see you turn up on time because then they know that they can depend on you and that you are credible as a potential client. In the competitive world that we live in, turning up on time for your job is a great way to help you progress and to move up the corporate ladder.
We all need to do whatever we can to lower our stress and anxiety levels and so being on time for all of your appointments helps to do this very thing. Punctuality allows you to stick to your daily schedule.
